What do you do at Celtic?

I develop messaging strategies for brand campaigns and social media content.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

Having ah-ha moments. Sparks of clarity that lead to great ideas.

If you weren’t working in the marketing and advertising industry, what would you be doing?

Oh, what an interesting question. Maybe bartending on some resort island beach shack pub., telling awful dad jokes.

What’s the best career-related advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t worry about being the best. Focus on getting better. I reworded Brad Stulberg’s concept: Don’t Worry About Being the Best. Worry About Being the Best at Getting Better. My version has a little more punch, right?

When you’re not working here at Celtic, what are you doing?

Writing short story concepts that will someday become published short stories. My current project is called The Thiefdom of Harvest Bishop. An Ocean’s 11 meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest with a side of Don Quixote mashup. Doesn’t that sound like an entertaining read?

What’s your favorite bar in Milwaukee?

If people consider it a dive bar, then that’s my kind of place. Take me there and I’ll buy a round for the whole damn place.

Do you have any weird phobias?

No, not really. But speaking of phobias, my character Harvest Bishop has Ataxophobia. And no, it’s not a fear of taxes. That’s probably IRSophobia.

What is your dream vacation destination?

That resort island beach I was referencing earlier. Wherever that is, I hope I get there.

Tell us about the best vacation you’ve ever taken.

The best vacation is always the one you’re on until it’s not. Hmmm, my best vacation? A few years back I flew the family to San Diego. It was in “beach-beers-repeat” mode for five days.

What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?

Koolickles. Sometimes the internet can lead us to curious places.

If you were stranded on an island, what would you bring with you?

I always like this question. I need to know more about this island. I mean, am I stranded on Bora Bora? In that case, sunscreen, flip-flops, and enough cash to buy the rest.

Who inspires you?

Depends on the day. Celebrities or famous people don’t inspire me. Regular folks working hard, carving their way through life offer more to me than some notable person.

What is your favorite hobby?

Is tinkering a hobby? I like to tinker with stuff. I certainly don’t know what I’m doing but I like to think in case of an emergency, my tinkering skills would pay off.

What’s something about you that not many people know?

I have alopecia. A fistful of years ago I began losing clumps of hair on my head, and then all over. It was a strange experience. Half-dollar bald spots blanketed my melon. Then when I sprouted hair again, it came back pure white. Downy soft white hair. Wild! But the wax/wane cycle continues. As of this writing, I’m in full chia pet mode with a salt-and-pepper vibe.
